AFLSQ is thrilled to introduce two new support programs, Bamba Mari (Strong Aboriginal Man) and Weekly Support Sessions.

Bamba Mari

Bamba Mari is a men’s program run over eight weeks on a Tuesday and is designed to bring men aged 16 years and older together to discuss their issues that they are dealing with daily.

This program is designed for dads, uncles, pops, nephews and carers to come along and enhance their relationships with their partners, children and community. The program accepts referrals from all government agencies, families, self-referrals and is a referral pathway for Yumbin Community Justice Group (Murri Court).

Topics include the roles of dads, communicating with children, connecting with children, behaviour and discipline, stress and anger and relationships and personal growth.

Outside of the program AFLSQ can offer one on one support to the men and their families. This could be an Independent Person (IP) with child safety, ensuring their health and social emotional wellbeing has been looked after and supporting them with their appointments. This is a wraparound service, that makes sure First Nations people have the holistic care that they need and deserve.
